Seeing as I’m yet to be let down by any of the restaurants/pop-ups run by the Young Turks, The Clove Club has been on my list since it opened in Spring 2013. The focus of the tasting menu is on seasonal, British ingredients and innovative flavour combinations. Their approach resulted, overall, in a really delicious meal and I would definitely return.

Tokyo Tuesday – Tokyo’s top five spots for brunch
The brunch concept has hit Tokyo in a big way. There are so many different places to try and it’s not uncommon to see a queue around the block for the latest pancake hotspot! We tried out more than our fair share of brunch destinations while we lived in Tokyo…and these five always had me coming back. While the list may need updating to take into account the new spots which are always opening, in my opinion these classics will always deserve a visit.
Kitchen Table – a review
Akelaré – a review
On our second day in the Basque region, we hopped in the car and drove towards San Sebastian, stopping on the way for another indulgent meal at the three Michelin star Akelaré. Perching high on the cliff tops, Akelaré is built to look like a boat and as such is light, spacious and has spectacular views out over the sea.
I was wondering how I would fit another meal in after our meal at Azurmendi the night before but once the bread basket was waved under my nose, I knew I would somehow find space for our second tranche of gourmet fare.
The Ledbury – a review
After my first visit to the Ledbury I became a firm fan and even though I’ve now returned number of times, I am always excited to go back. The menu tends to repeat a number of signature dishes (all of which I am more than happy to eat time and again) but also serves up some new and exciting combinations of flavours.
Azurmendi – a review
The first gourmet experience of the weekend was a trip to Azurmendi – a restaurant that a number of sources ensured us wasn’t to be missed. They weren’t wrong!
Lyle’s restaurant, Shoreditch, London – a review
I love the food at Upstairs @ The Ten Bells so when I heard that the Young Turks had set up another restaurant nearby, Lyle’s, I was really keen to try it. As there is only one set menu on offer at Lyle’s you are ensured the best of the season’s fresh ingredients, and I was so grateful to them for being so accommodating of my dietary requirements and serving up some really delicious alternatives that were still in keeping with the general spirit of the menu.
Chiltern Firehouse – a review
It seems that not an evening goes by without seeing a celebrity wandering out of Chiltern Firehouse so I was intrigued to see if the current London hotspot was more style than substance…
Casa Oaxaca El Restaurante
The modern Mexican restaurant connected to our first hotel in Oaxaca (see more details here) – Casa Oaxaca El Restaurante – is widely known as the best place to eat in Oaxaca (it’s currently number 34 on the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurant’s list).
El Mural de los Poblanos
Everywhere we read said that El Mural de Los Poblanos was THE place to go and sample the traditional delights of Poblano cuisine, so we headed into the old town on our first evening in Puebla to try it out.
