Happy New Year!

Dubai - Happy New Year

Wishing everyone a happy, exciting and prosperous 2015. Currently enjoying some R&R in Dubai (further details in next week’s posts)…I’m hoping to discover some new and exciting places in 2015, return to some old favourites as well as ensure that I spend some time appreciated the wealth of adventures (culinary and otherwise) that my home town (London) has to offer.

Al-Maha---taking-in-the-view-from-pool

A few weekends ago I headed out to Dubai where, as a post exam treat, we had booked to stay a night at the Al Maha Desert Spa & Resort, a luxury resort about a forty minute drive from Dubai city nestled among the desert dunes. We had the most amazing stay…

Noma – a review

Noma-lobster

We were lucky enough to get a reservation at the world renown Noma and I was so excited to try René Redzepi’s innovative and ground-breaking take on Nordic cuisine, especially since 2014 is the 10 year anniversary of the restaurant’s opening and the year in which they have regained the top spot on the San Pellegrino world’s 50 best restaurant list.

Taipei-panorama(1)

Petra

Petra-the-Treasury-and-camel

As the history geek in me is still alive and well, one of the main draws of Jordan for me was Petra…Southern Jordan’s most dramatic cultural and archaeological sight, famous for lavish buildings carved into the rock. One of the seven wonders of the world, Petra definitely lived up to it’s reputation for me…I was totally mesmerised by the temples and buildings punctuating the dramatic natural landscape.

A Jordanian road trip

King's-Highway-Kerak-Castle(2)

Although you can fly from one end of Jordan to another, there are so many phenomenal sights packed into this tiny country that I couldn’t recommend a leisurely road trip more.  There are three roads in Jordan, the slowest of which – the King’s Highway – is by far the most spectacular.
