Last weekend I returned to Denmark for a very special wedding but made sure to take advantage of returning to Copenhagen and another friend’s birthday to try another of it’s top rated restaurants – Geranium.
Headed up by Rasmus Koefed, Geranium has, like Noma, two Michelin stars yet is doesn’t seem to be as widely known. While, in my humble opinion, this is something that should change I’m not sure I really want it to! It was much more manageable to get a reservation at Geranium and yet, for me, the food, while less challenging, was more enjoyable and just as beautifully presented.
On escape eat explore so far I’ve generally concentrated on the more gourmet end of the food available in Japan, and given that Tokyo has more Michelin stars than any other city that is easy to do. But to do so exclusively would miss out on a trick. Japan’s more casual food scene is also not to be missed…
On Saturday night we ate at Madrid’s place to be seen – Ten Con Ten. My friend suggested and booked this restaurant months ago and while I trusted her to recommend the best of Madrid to us, we were all pretty excited when the restaurant also popped up on Oliva Palermo’s blog post a few weeks later – clearly we were on the right track!
The brunch concept has hit Tokyo in a big way. There are so many different places to try and it’s not uncommon to see a queue around the block for the latest pancake hotspot! We tried out more than our fair share of brunch destinations while we lived in Tokyo…and these five always had me coming back. While the list may need updating to take into account the new spots which are always opening, in my opinion these classics will always deserve a visit.
